General dentistry services

When your teeth hurt, you just can’t wait for treatment. Pain and swelling can cause discomfort that seems to radiate to your entire body. And if you’ve injured your mouth, it’s vital you see a dentist near you as soon as possible to avoid permanent damage or the loss of a tooth.

Same Day Appointments for Emergencies

Dental issues such as abscesses, decay, infected gums, cavities and injury can cause severe pain and need to be addressed with restorative dentistry. Even if you aren’t experiencing pain but have lost a filling, cracked a tooth or broken a denture, you should still get in to see us as soon as possible.

If you are experiencing a dental emergency and need to see a dentist in St. Petersburg Florida, please give us a call at 727-498-1959. With office hours six days a week, we can usually accommodate same-day appointments. We will try our best to get you the dental care you need quickly and conveniently.

What to Do Until You See a Dentist

When dental emergencies occur, knowing what to do can help you save a tooth instead of having it extracted. Here are some tips for common dental emergencies:

  • If a permanent tooth has been knocked out, keep the tooth moist at all times. If possible, place the tooth back in the socket but don’t touch the root. If you can’t do that, place the tooth in between your cheek and gums, in milk or use a tooth preservation product approved the American Dental Association. Call us right away to make an appointment.
  • If your tooth is cracked, immediately rinse your mouth with warm water. This will clean the area and remove bacteria from the cracked area. Use cold compresses on you face to decrease swelling. Then call us for an appointment.
  • If you bite your tongue or lip severely, clean the area gently with water and use a cold compress to reduce swelling and stop bleeding.
  • If you have a toothache, rinse your mouth with warm water to clean it. Then, use dental floss to gently remove food caught between your teeth. Never put aspirin on the aching tooth or gum tissues. Call us for an appointment.
  • If you have an object stuck in your mouth, try to gently remove it with floss. Do not try to remove it with sharp or pointed instruments like tweezers or scissors.

Prevent Injuries

To prevent injuries to your teeth and mouth, always:

  • Wear a mouth guard during sports or recreational activities.
  • Never chew on ice, popcorn kernels and hard candy as this can crack a tooth.
  • Do not use your teeth to cut things. Use scissors instead.
